With around 378 holes in eight sites, today this park has around 468 holes spread across eleven sites.

Entirely executed by Dr.David Bronner, with the main idea of diversifying the states fund thus helping the Alabama state economically. It was believed that if the Retirement Systems of Alabama is made stronger then the state of Alabama could be made stronger.

Today there are two kinds of courses that have events on the LPGA tour. There is the Senator course which is at Capitol Hill hosts the Navistar LPGA Classic. Then you also have the Crossings course at the Magnolia Grove. This is the place where the Avnet LPGA classic is also found.

Bronner was encouraged to build this series of golf courses as he wanted a great golf destination here in this part of the world. This was in a way a Field of Dreams. Today there are at least thousands of golfers which have played in more than 10 courses in this Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Bronner felt that only Robert Trent Jones Sr. could be the best golf course architect and he in fact came out of semi retirement to start this project.

The course had only seven sites in the beginning. There was the Hampton Cove in the region of Huntsville and the Oxmoor Valley in the area of Birmingham, then in Anniston there was the Silver Lakes, and Opelika had the Grand National. Greenville had Cambrian Ridge and Highland Oaks had Dothan, Mobile had the Magnolia Grove. In the year 1999 Montgomery in Capitol Hill was added on. In the year 2005, Ross Bridge and Shoals in Florence were opened. These are the places where golf is really tested on a large scale. Some golf courses are short and one golf course is around 4,700 yards. The longest course is around 8,100.
