    Wood Buffalo National Park is Canada’s biggest park situated in southern Northwest Territories and northeastern Alberta. It was founded in the year 1922 for protecting the largest herd of the world of roaming Wood Bison. It is the only known nesting site of whooping cranes. The park ranges from 600 feet at Little Buffalo River to 3100 feet in Caribou Mountains. The headquarters of the park is situated in Fort Smith with smaller satellite office in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. It comprises of one of the biggest fresh water deltas of the world known as Peace-Athabasca Delta formed by Athabasca, Peace and Birch Rivers.
