    In the year 1922, Paul Cret an architect designed a beautiful combination of two buildings on a land that belonged to Barnes a veteran of the American civil War and Captain Joseph Lapsley Wilson a horticulturist. This building has some of the best bas reliefs that were commissioned by the Barnes. He did it from Jacques Lipchitz a great sculptor. It was Laura Barnes who developed the entire area and she started it with some paintings of Wilson and today there are in the Arboretum of the Barne’s Foundation.     John Gunter was a white settler in the southern most region of the River Tennessee in the Alabama area. He found some salt deposits there and started trading this with the Cherokees nearby. He later married Ghi-go-ne-li of the Holly Clan and then was accepted by the Cherokee tribe. He opened a store and named it the Gunter’s Landing. This store then became so successful that the entire town began to be known as Gunter’s Landing. This was a very important site till it was removed. In the year 1813, in the month of October, General Andrew Jackson came to fight with the Creeks. He enrolled one of John Gunter’s sons in the ensuing battle.
